1. Domaine des Moriers Beaujolais Villages 2022, Beaujolais, France
A gastronomical Gamay from small organic estate based in Lancié. Their Beaujolais Villages is fragrant with bright cherry fruit, sweet spices and woody undertones. Textural and generous.
2. Oda Wines Dzelshavi 2022, Samegrelo, Italy
Oda is run by Keto and Zaza, two natural wine trailblazers in Georgia and pioneers in the region of Samegrelo. This Dzelshavi is source from the mountainous region of Racha. This is elegant with notes of blue plums, black cherry, sandalwood and wood smoke.
3. Lapo Berti Dolcetto Dogliani 2021, Piedmont, Italy
Lapo’s winemaking journey began in Tuscany and took him to iconic cellars in Piedmont, Burgundy and even Australia before he returned to La Morra to start his own project. Farming organically in the Fossati and Le Coste crus, he prioritises biodiversity and meticulous care. In the cellar, long native-yeast fermentations and minimal intervention result in pure, expressive wines. His Dolcetto has plenty of deep plum fruit, violet and cedar spiced. Juicy with mineral depth.
4. Katla 'Moa' Merlot 2021, Rheinhessen, Germany
Katla is Jasmine Swan’s project, sourcing grapes from like-minded, low-intervention growers across various regions in Germany. Jas' creative approach is reflected in both her vibrant wines and unique labels—classic wines with a twist. As she says, "I like to make my own traditions rather than follow them." Moa, a beautiful whole-bunch Merlot, showcases juicy red plums, spiced strawberries, and a herbal lift of oregano in a velvety finish.
5. Tailleurs Cueilleurs 'Kove' 2021, Bugey, France
Tailleurs Cueilleurs, literally pruners-pickers, is a small project based in the village of Saint-Jean-Ie-Vieux, on northern side of Bugey. Here Chloé and Jordan farm a number of small plots spreading across three main different areas of Bugey: Varey, Poncieux and Dalivoy. Kove is the assemblage of young vine Gamay and Mondeuse, both planted high altitudes making a fresh precise style. Velvety red cherry and fresh blackberries lend to aromas of pencil shavings, spicy sumac and dried floral notes.
6. Marco Tinessa Aglianico 2021, Campania, Italy
Marco Tinessa’s winemaking career grew out of an obsession with natural wine and a love affair with the Campanian denomination of Taurasi. His debut project began with the acquisition of a single vineyard of Aglianico near Montemarano. Ognostro came to be thanks to the help of Marco’s mentor and friend, none other than the iconic Frank Cornelissen, whose eponymous winery in Sicily has become a standard bearer for Italian natural wines. Fruit forward and generous on the dark fruit. It offers floral notes combining with myrtle and finishing on tones of liquorice and herbal lift.
