1. Petit Roy Saint Romain 'En Chevrot' 2021, Burgundy, France
Located in Chorey-les-Beaune, Seiichi Saito runs Petit-Roy since 2017. Seiichi was first introduced to the world of wine when he attended the Beaune wine school in 2006. In the years that followed, he spent time working with a number of outstanding domaines, including Mugnier, Leflaive and Rousseau, and landing for a particularly long stint at Simon Bize. The project is split between 2.1 hectares of owned vineyards and some négoce wines. The wines don't disappoint with incredible precision, freshness and mineral edge. The Saint-Romain white is one of our favourites of the 2021 releases, with lime zest, stone fruit, almond tones and fresh cream. Finish is long and generous.

2. Iñaki Garrido 'Las Toscas' 2022, Canary Islands, Spain
Some time before he came to Tenerife to live with his wife and daughter, Iñaki Garrido came across an old plot of Listán Blanco in the Valle de Güimar. The vines sit at an altitude of 1400mt, with some up to 200 years old and on original, ungrafted rootstocks that delve deep into the island’s famous volcanic soils. We can never get enough of his 'Las Toscas', now one of the most sought after wines on the island. Gentle citrus marry generous stone fruit, beeswax and smoky flint. The palate is focused, complex and racy, ending on a mouth-wateringly saline finish. Incredibly refined wine that will age very well. We have held on to a few single bottles of this for the festive period so quantities are very limited - when it's gone, it's gone!

3. Phelan Farm Mencia 2020, California, US
Known for his various projects across California and Oregon - such as Sandhi, Domaine de la Côte and Evening Land just to name a few - Rajat Parr is a famous sommelier, successful author and talented winemaker who has most recently taken on a new project in Cambria.  His latest venture takes him to Cambria, where he has embraced a new chapter at Phelan Farm, a historic family estate nestled near Steiner Creek, just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean. Rajat decide to plant a series of cool climate varieties from favourite European regions such as Savoie, Jura or Northern Spain, which strive well in the cool coastal San Luis Obispo. Farming at Phelan Farm follows a holistic philosophy rooted in biodynamic, permaculture, and regenerative practices. To nurture the vineyard’s ecosystem, Rajat employs fermented treatments made from native plants like nettles and horsetail, as well as local ingredients like honey, kelp, and Pacific Ocean water, fostering the vineyard's natural vitality. The winemaking is equally low interventionist with no manipulations or additions. This Mencia is bursting with beautiful candied blueberry, red cherry and cassis notes blend in with dried eucalyptus and violet notes. Generous, juicy and complex.
